Louisiana State Police Investigate Fatal Crash on Louisiana Highway 34 That Claimed the Life of Monroe Resident

Winn Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop E arrived at the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 34 around 3:45 p.m. on June 15, 2024. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of Preston E. McCarvill, a 58-year-old resident of Monroe, Louisiana.

The first examination showed that a 1998 Ford Expedition, being driven by McCarvill, was heading east on Louisiana Highway 34. The vehicle veered off the road for unknown reasons, went down the ditch embankment, and hit multiple trees.

According to Louisiana State Police, McCarvill, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. Samples for routine toxicology testing were taken and will be analyzed. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

The reason for this crash is still being looked into, but distracted and inattentive driving is a major factor in crashes in our state said LSP. Louisiana State Police is advising all drivers to stay focused while on the road, as being unaware can lead to tragic outcomes.

So far in 2024, Troop E Troopers has investigated 30 deadly crashes that led to 32 deaths.
