Baldwin, Louisiana – A single-vehicle crash on U.S. 90 near Baldwin, Louisiana claimed the life of a Franklin, Louisiana resident in the early morning hours of December 19, 2024. Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the scene shortly after 2:00 a.m., where they found a 2016 Infiniti QX8 had overturned near the Louisiana Highway 83 exit.
Daphne Spain, 49, of Franklin, Louisiana was driving eastbound on U.S. 90 when her vehicle entered the exit ramp toward LA 83. Investigators report that the Infiniti then veered off the left side of the roadway for reasons that remain under investigation. The vehicle subsequently overturned, ejecting Spain, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
First responders pronounced Spain deceased at the scene. As part of standard protocol in fatal crash investigations, toxicology samples were collected and submitted to the state laboratory for analysis. The results of these tests are pending.
