Thibodaux, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop C is investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that claimed the life of an 81-year-old Thibodaux woman on Louisiana Highway 20.

The crash occurred on November 1, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m. on LA Hwy 20 near Colonial Drive. Lois Blanchard of Thibodaux died from injuries sustained in the incident.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 1994 Buick Park Avenue was traveling south on LA Hwy 20 in the left lane when the crash occurred. Blanchard was standing in the left lane of the highway at the time.

For reasons still under investigation, the Buick struck Blanchard while she was in the roadway.

Emergency responders transported Blanchard to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Buick did not sustain any injuries in the crash.

Investigators did not suspect the Buick driver of being impaired at the time of the crash. The driver voluntarily provided a breath sample, which showed no alcohol detected.
