Louisiana State Police Investigate Crash on Highway 519 that Resulted in One Dead, Four Injured

Arcadia, Louisiana - A single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 519 near Louisiana Highway 533 has resulted in the death of 47-year-old Bryan Bissell of Arcadia, Louisiana. The incident occurred on October 21 at approximately 1:15 p.m.

According to the preliminary investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop G, Bissell was driving a 2007 Ford pickup north on Louisiana Highway 519 when his vehicle left the roadway and collided with a tree. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Bissell, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, was pronounced deceased at the scene. An adult passenger in the front seat, also properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Additionally, three juvenile passengers in the rear seat of the Ford, all properly restrained, sustained moderate injuries and were also taken to a local hospital for further care.

Although impairment is not currently suspected, routine toxicology samples were collected from Bissell and submitted for analysis. This standard procedure is part of the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The Louisiana State Police are urging all drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic laws to minimize the risk of such incidents. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as wearing seatbelts and staying alert while driving can significantly reduce the risk of injury or fatality.
