Lafayette, Louisiana – A deputy with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office (LPSO) has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of cruelty to a juvenile. The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations initiated the inquiry after being contacted by LPSO in February 2025 regarding the serious allegations against 28-year-old Matthew Frost, of Lafayette, Louisiana.

The investigation revealed that Frost is accused of committing the offense of cruelty to a juvenile against a single victim on two separate occasions in June 2024. In response to the findings, detectives obtained an arrest warrant through the 15th Judicial District Court, charging Frost with two counts under Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:93, which addresses cruelty to a juvenile as a felony offense.

On March 3, 2025, Matthew Frost was taken into custody and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, where he remains as the investigation continues.

Residents can utilize the LSP’s online reporting system, contact the Suspicious Activity Hotline at 1-800-434-8007, or access the See Send smartphone app. More information is available on the LA-SAFE website at http://la-safe.org/, where individuals can click on the “report suspicious activity” link.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
