Louisiana State Police Commence First Accelerated Training Program
Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police announced on July 31, 2022, that 28 men and women had begun their careers as Louisiana State Police Troopers in the department’s first accelerated training program for POST (Peace Officer Standards and Training) certified applicants. The Louisiana State Police Cadet Class 101 will be a 14-week accelerated academy for cadets having at least two years of full-time law enforcement experience. Although the training will be hastened, it will not be less traditional or intense, ensuring that each cadet is fully prepared for a career of public service to the folks of Louisiana.
The rigorous physical, mental, and academic demands will be part of the accelerated training program. Cadets will undergo advanced State Police training in areas such as firearm competence, tactical driving, defensive tactics, de-escalation techniques, advanced crash investigation, lawful use of force, implicit bias recognition, and LSP Core Values, in addition to POST requirements.
While difficult, Day One for the Cadets is all about taking the next step in serving our state. Cadets must first learn personal discipline, attention to detail, leadership, teamwork, and inner fortitude in order to excel as a Louisiana State Trooper. They will graduate from the LSP Academy on November 4, 2022, after successfully completing each training course and practical application.
LSP Cadet Class 102 is a standard full-length training academy for all qualified applicants, according to the Louisiana State Police. Cadet Class 102 will begin in February 2023, with an application date of October 17, 2022.
More information on the employment process, qualifications, physical fitness standards, and frequently asked questions can be found by following this link. Anyone with questions can contact LSP Recruiters by email at [email protected].
