Baton Rouge, Louisiana – In July 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU) launched an investigation into the possession of unlawful deepfakes, a form of technology that uses artificial intelligence to create realistic but fake images or videos, often with malicious intent. This investigation was conducted in collaboration with several agencies, including Homeland Security Investigations, the United States Marshals Service, and local probation and parole officers.

The investigation was initiated after the Louisiana Probation & Parole West Baton Rouge Office discovered Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) during a routine inspection of a convicted sex offender, 40-year-old Ryan Glaser from Oscar, Louisiana. Following this discovery, LSP SVU obtained an arrest warrant for Glaser from the 18th Judicial District Court on July 23, 2024. He was subsequently arrested and charged with four counts of possession of unlawful deepfakes. Glaser was booked into the West Baton Rouge Prison.

As the investigation progressed, authorities learned that a second individual, 24-year-old Gregory Duncan Jr. of New Roads, Louisiana, was responsible for creating and distributing the CSAM to Glaser. This led to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Duncan Jr. in the same judicial district. He was apprehended by the LSP Fugitive Apprehension Unit on February 4, 2025, and charged with distribution of unlawful deepfakes. Duncan Jr. was booked into the Iberville Parish Jail.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
