Louisiana State Police Arrest Simmesport Officer for Burglary at Police Department

Simmesport, Louisiana - The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations has made a significant arrest in connection with a burglary at the Simmesport Police Department headquarters. On July 11, 2024, Officer Kentravious Prater from the Simmesport Police Department was taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the theft of three firearms, a ballistic vest, and a mobile radio from the department's premises.

Following a thorough investigation by the Louisiana State Police, it was determined that Officer Prater was the individual responsible for the missing items. Subsequently, a warrant was issued for his arrest on charges including aggravated burglary, possession of stolen firearms, possession of stolen things, criminal damage to property, and malfeasance in office.

Officer Prater was promptly apprehended by the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria Field Office and was then booked into the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff's Jail. As the lead investigative agency, the Louisiana State Police continues to actively pursue leads and gather evidence related to the case.
