Springhill, Louisiana - A Springhill Police Department officer faces malfeasance charges after Louisiana State Police investigators say she misused her official position to provide unauthorized license plate query results to a family member.
Amandia Hamilton, 43, of Shongaloo, Louisiana, turned herself in to authorities on Oct. 23, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. She was processed at Bayou Dorcheat Correctional Center following an investigation by the Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Bossier Field Office.
The investigation began in September 2025 when investigators learned Hamilton allegedly provided license plate query results to a family member for personal gain while serving in her official capacity as a police officer. Access to law enforcement databases, including license plate queries, is restricted to official police business under state and federal law.
Malfeasance in office is a criminal charge that applies when a public official intentionally refuses to perform duties, performs duties in an improper manner, or commits acts they have no authority to perform. The charge carries potential penalties including fines and imprisonment, depending on the severity of the offense.
The 26th Judicial District Court issued an arrest warrant for Hamilton on the malfeasance charge. The 26th JDC covers Bossier and Webster parishes in northwest Louisiana.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
