Louisiana State Police Arrest Mississippi Man Following Madison Parish Homicide

Madison Parish, LA – The Louisiana State Police Detectives-Monroe Field Office (LSP MFO) have made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred on January 9, 2025. The tragic incident, which took place in the 500 block of Byson Road, led to the death of 35-year-old Brittany Mays from Vicksburg, Mississippi.

In the days following the incident, investigators gathered significant information that culminated in the issuance of an arrest warrant by the 6th Judicial District Court. On January 10, 2025, authorities apprehended 36-year-old Nathan Kirkley, also of Vicksburg. Kirkley was taken into custody without incident and is now facing charges of second-degree murder. He has been booked into the Madison Parish Detention Center, where he remains while the investigation continues.

Initially, on January 9, at approximately 3:25 p.m., the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office (MPSO) requested the assistance of LSP MFO to investigate the homicide. Early findings indicated that the incident resulted in one fatality, prompting a thorough inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Mays’ death.

The investigation into Brittany Mays’ death remains active.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
