Louisiana State Police Arrest Mississippi Homicide Suspect

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on May 4, 2022, that on May 3, 2022, the Clinton Police Department in Mississippi contacted Detectives with Louisiana State Police for assistance in locating a homicide suspect. Detectives discovered that William Edwards, 55, was wanted for a homicide that occurred on May 1, 2022, in Clinton, Mississippi.

According to LSP, detectives suspected Edwards was driving a Ford F-450 in the New Orleans area based on their investigation. The Ford was discovered by detectives from the Criminal Investigative Division’s New Orleans Field Office, the Violent Crimes Abatement Investigation Team, and the Insurance Fraud and Auto Theft Team at a business near Martin Luther King Boulevard and S. Claiborne Avenue. Detectives were also able to apprehend Edwards at the same location, where he was apprehended without incident.

Detectives also executed a search warrant on Edwards’ vehicle as well as the hotel room he was staying in, and discovered additional evidence related to the homicide. Edwards was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish jail, where he will be extradited to Mississippi.
