Opelousas, Louisiana – A 73-year-old Opelousas man has been arrested on charges of sexual battery following an investigation by the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division. Gerald Green, a Community Liaison for the Opelousas City Marshal’s Elderly Awareness Program, was taken into custody on December 10, 2024, and booked into the Saint Landry Parish Jail.
According to the preliminary investigation, the incident in question occurred on or around March 27, 2024, in Opelousas. The victim, who is not being named, reported that Green committed the offense during a workplace interaction. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are not being released at this time.
Green has been charged with two counts: LRS 14:43.1 Sexual Battery and LRS 14:43.1.1 Misdemeanor Sexual Battery. The Louisiana Revised Statutes (LRS) define sexual battery as the intentional touching of the private parts of another person for the purpose of sexual gratification, without the consent of the victim. Misdemeanor sexual battery is a lesser charge that typically involves non-consensual touching that does not result in serious bodily injury.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
