Louisiana State Police and FBI Team Up to Arrest Online Predator Targeting Underage Girls

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – In September 2022, the Louisiana State Police Special Victim’s Unit (LSP SVU) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) joined forces to launch an investigation into child sexual exploitation. They discovered that a 15-year-old girl was being sexually exploited through social media apps, leading to the arrest of Shane Cooper, 29, from Port Allen, Louisiana.

As the investigation progressed, LSP SVU obtained an arrest warrant for Cooper on charges including computer-aided solicitation of a minor, indecent behavior with juveniles, and attempted possession of child pornography.

Cooper was apprehended in West Baton Rouge Parish on December 30, 2023, and later transferred to Ascension Parish Jail on January 4, 2024. The investigation is ongoing with no further details available at this time.

Louisiana State Police said that LSP SVU is dedicated to rescuing and seeking justice for victims of child exploitation and human trafficking.
