Gonzales, Louisiana - On July 18, 2024, Louisiana State Police reported that in March 2024, the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU) initiated an investigation, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), regarding the possession of child pornography. The inquiry led to the apprehension of Benton R. Bateman, a 48-year-old resident of Gonzales, Louisiana.
On July 16, 2024, authorities executed search and arrest warrants at Bateman's residence, resulting in his detention and arraignment on five counts of Possession of Pornography Involving Juveniles. He was subsequently incarcerated at Ascension Parish Prison.
