Louisiana State Police and Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office Host Free Child Seat Check Event in DeRidder

DeRidder – On Saturday, August 10, 2019, the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force in cooperation with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police Troop D will provide free child passenger safety seat checks in DeRidder. Checks will be conducted by nationally certified child passenger safety seat technicians who will provide hands-on child safety seat inspections and answer questions at no charge. This is a great opportunity to ensure, without penalty, child seats are in compliance with the new state law that went into effect on August 1st.

The event will take place at Green Chevrolet located at 307 East First Street in DeRidder from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. During the past 30 years, nearly 9,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.

Support for this event is provided by the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission and Green Chevrolet.
