Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office Investigating Multiple Suspicious Structure Fires

Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has reported that it is officially investigating multiple suspicious structure fires in Pineville. Between 11 p.m. on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, and 8 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022, the fires were reported within a two-mile radius in the Wardville area. Four of the structures were vacant homes, while the other two were storage sheds. All of the calls were responded to by the Pineville Fire Department, with assistance from the Holiday Village Fire Department, the Ball Fire Department, and the Ruby Kolin Fire Department.
The locations of the suspicious fires are as follows:
• 700 block of Sycamore Street
• 100 block of Hickory Street
• 100 block of Radio Road
• 1480 block of Bayou Maria Road
• 1490 block of Bayou Maria Road
• 100 block of Westbrook Street
The fires did not injure any residents, but three firefighters received minor electrical shocks and a fourth suffered a back injury. All four were treated and released from a nearby hospital.
Deputies from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s office have determined that all six fires are suspicious and share common circumstances and elements at this time. Deputies are actively seeking information from the public to aid their investigation, with the assistance of the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
