Louisiana State Fire Marshal Seeks Public’s Help in Identifying School Fire Suspect

Denham Springs, Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an intentional fire at Seventh Ward Elementary School in Denham Springs.

On Saturday, August 31, the Denham Springs Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the school, located in the 24000 block of Highway 16, after 12 a.m. The blaze was confined to a portable building on the back side of the campus, but the structure was deemed a total loss.

An investigation by deputies revealed that the fire was intentionally set, and surveillance footage has captured an image of the suspect. The individual is seen wearing a light-colored t-shirt, jeans, and a dark-colored ball cap. According to evidence gathered so far, the suspect entered and exited the campus on foot.

The Louisiana SFM is urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity and whereabouts to come forward. Tips can be shared by calling the SFM Arson Hotline at 1-844-954-1221 or by submitting an online tip form on the SFM’s website at lasfm.org.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
