Louisiana State Fire Marshal Asking for Information from the Public in Fatal July House Fire Investigation
Donaldsonville, Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) reported on August 3, 2022, that the LASFM, in collaboration with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding a house fire in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, which killed a female resident.
According to LASFM, the Donaldsonville Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 700 block of Catalpa Street at about 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022. Unfortunately, firemen discovered the body of a female victim in the home’s living room.
The Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office is still working on official identification and cause of death, but the victim is thought to be a 65-year-old disabled homeowner.
LASFM deputies determined the fire started in a back room of the house after assessing the situation and gathering witness accounts. Deputies discovered the victim in the home’s living room, where they discovered she was bedridden.
The inquiry into the actual cause of the fire is still ongoing.
