Louisiana Roadway Updates: Key Routes Reopened in Southwest – Refreeze and Reclose Risk Looms

Lake Charles, Louisiana – As of January 16, 2024, at 2:45 p.m., Louisiana State Police reported that the following roadways in Southwest Louisiana have been reopened (Conditions subject to change at any time):

  • US 171 Ragley Overpass in Both north and southbound directions of travel.
  • I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge between Westlake and Lake Charles
  • LA 27 at Ellender Bridge and Intracostal Waterway Bridge at the Calcasieu Parish and Cameron Parish line.
  • I-10 eastbound lanes at the US 165 interchange near Iowa, Louisiana
  • I-210 Bridge between Westlake and Lake Charles – east and westbound lanes of travel have been reopened.

Louisiana State Police are asking drivers to be aware of the possibility of some of the melted ice to refreeze during the evening. Drivers are advised to plan extra time for traveling.

With temperatures expected to fall again this evening, drivers should also prepare for the possibility that some roadways will be closed again.
