Louisiana Restaurants Will Soon Have to Inform Customers if They Serve Imported Shrimp or Crawfish
A bill recently passed that will require restaurants to inform customers if they server imported shrimp or crawfish in Louisiana. Democratic Representative Jerry “Truck” Gisclair authored the bill. Gisclair’s bill is to address the issue that there is too little testing done on shrimp or crawfish entering the United States from other countries.
The bill easily passed the Louisiana Legislature receiving unanimous support from both parties and the Louisiana seafood industry,
The bill was sent to Governor John Bel Edwards, who is expected to sign it.
Restaurants will have to post information about imported crawfish or shrimp on menus or signs at their main entrances.
