Baldwin, Louisiana - A pedestrian crash on Louisiana Highway 182 claimed the life of a Baldwin man early Sunday morning, according to Louisiana State Police.
Kenneth Levine, 60, of Baldwin, died September 1, 2025, after succumbing to injuries sustained in the crash that occurred two days earlier on the Highway 182 overpass near Yokley Road.
Louisiana State Police Troop I began investigating the crash shortly after 3:00 a.m. on August 30, 2025. The preliminary investigation revealed Levine was walking on the overpass while wearing dark clothing when a 2014 Chrysler 200 traveling eastbound struck him.
Emergency responders transported Levine to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Chrysler 200 was properly restrained during the crash and sustained no injuries.
Investigators determined the driver of the Crysler was not suspected of impairment. The driver voluntarily provided a breath sample that showed no alcohol detected, according to state police.
Louisiana State Police Troop I received notification on September 1 that Levine had died from his injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police. No charges have been announced at this time.
Pedestrian crashes on highways and overpasses pose significant safety risks, particularly during early morning hours when visibility is reduced. Dark clothing can make pedestrians difficult for drivers to see, especially in low-light conditions.
Louisiana Highway 182 serves as a major transportation route in the region. The overpass where the crash occurred connects multiple local roads and sees regular traffic throughout the day and night.
