Erwinville, Louisiana – On May 27, at 3 am, Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A started investigating a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on LA 3091. The crash happened north of LA 620 in West Baton Rouge Parish and resulted in the death of Adrian D. Hammond, a 55-year-old from Gretna, Louisiana.

Initial findings show that a 2006 GMC Sierra was driving in the right lane going north on LA 3091. At the same time, Hammond was walking on the right side of the road in an unknown direction. The GMC Sierra collided with Hammond for reasons that are still being looked into.

Hammond suffered fatal injuries from the crash and was declared dead at the scene. According to Louisiana State Police, the driver of the GMC was not wearing a seatbelt during the crash but was unharmed. As part of the ongoing investigation, standard toxicology tests were conducted on both the pedestrian and the driver of the GMC for further examination.

It is important for pedestrians and drivers to be alert and aware of their surroundings while on the road. By following safety guidelines such as wearing reflective clothing, avoiding dark areas, and assuming that drivers may not see them, pedestrians can decrease the risk of being involved in accidents. It is advised for pedestrians to cross roads in well-lit areas, walk against traffic, and take these measures to increase their safety.
