Slidell, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop L is investigating a fatal multi-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian that occurred early Tuesday morning on Interstate 10's Twin Span Bridge in St. Tammany Parish.
The crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Edashia Caraway of Appleton, Wisconsin. Troopers began their investigation at approximately 2:20 a.m. on October 21, 2025, about three miles south of Old Spanish Trail.
According to the preliminary investigation, Caraway was on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 when a 2026 Mazda CX-5, also traveling eastbound, struck her. Investigators believe another vehicle may have struck Caraway before the Mazda made contact with her, though this aspect of the crash remains under investigation.
Emergency responders pronounced Caraway deceased at the scene. The driver of the Mazda was properly restrained and did not sustain any injuries in the crash.
As part of standard procedure in fatal crashes, troopers obtained routine toxicology samples from both Caraway and the Mazda driver for analysis. These samples will be tested as part of the ongoing investigation to determine if impairment played any role in the incident.
Louisiana State Police Troop L continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding how Caraway came to be on the eastbound lanes of the interstate. The investigation also focuses on identifying the potential first vehicle that may have struck her before the Mazda collision.
Authorities are seeking assistance from the public to piece together the events leading up to the fatal crash. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Louisiana State Police Troop L at (985) 893-6250.
