Louisiana Parolee Arrested in Connection with $14k Worth of Drugs, Firearms, and Other Charges

Louisiana – Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator announced on November 18, 2022, that narcotics agents arrested a Shreveport, Louisiana man after reportedly discovering illegal drugs, packing material, and a handgun in his residence.

Caddo narcotics agents executed a search warrant on November 15 at an address in the 4,000 Block of Haywood Place in Shreveport, Louisiana. Authorities allegedly discovered the following items during their search of the house:

  • 147 grams of crack cocaine (Street Value $14,700)
  • 1 gram of powder cocaine (Street Value $100)
  • 4 D/U of meth tablets (Street Value $40)
  • digital scale
  • packaging material
  • $1,550 in U.S. currency
  • a Beretta handgun

At the time the warrant was executed, Christopher Bernard, 51, was the lone occupant of the house. At the time of the search, he was also on parole.

Bernard was arrested and put into the Caddo Correctional Center on charged with possession of schedule II with Intent to distribute, felon in possession of a firearm, firearm with controlled dangerous substances, and resisting an officer.

According to records, Bernard has been in and out of Caddo Correctional Center since 1990 and has previously faced drug distribution, battery, armed robbery, and attempted first-degree murder charges.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
