Louisiana Parent Arrested After Allegedly Hitting a School Teacher with His Vehicle

Caddo Parish, Louisiana – Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator reported that deputies arrested a parent in Keithville, Louisiana after he allegedly hit a school employee with his car on Friday, November 11, 2022.

Deputies were summoned to Keithville Elementary Middle School shortly after 4 p.m. on November 11 after the school reported a parent acting erratically. Courtland Jackson, 36, was reportedly angry due to school bus delays, according to the complaint. In an attempt to get ahead of the line, the parent collided with a school staffer who was managing traffic. Jackson then got out of his car to go pick up his child.

The school employee who had been hit by the vehicle confronted Jackson and tried to prevent him from leaving with the child. Jackson then reportedly shoved the employee aside.

Caddo deputies arrived two minutes after receiving a 911 call. Jackson was arrested and booked into Caddo Correctional Center charged with aggravated battery and battery on a school teacher.

Deputies remained on the scene until the mother arrived to collect her child.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
