Louisiana Nighttime Roadway Fatality: Man Dies in Pedestrian-Vehicle Crash in Ouachita Parish

Ouachita Parish, Louisiana - On the evening of December 01, 2023, at around 10 pm, Louisiana State Police Troop F initiated an investigation into a tragic incident on LA-594 near Radar Drive. A pedestrian, identified as Gregory Moore of Monroe, Louisiana lost his life in a single-vehicle crash involving a 2017 Ford Explorer.

The preliminary findings indicate that Moore was in the northbound lane wearing dark clothing and was struck by the Ford which was traveling northbound in the same lane. The driver and front-seat passenger escaped unscathed. LSP indicated that the driver of the Ford showed no signs of impairment, but routine toxicology samples were collected for analysis. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

The authorities emphasize the importance of pedestrian safety when navigating roadways. It is advised to walk against traffic flow to have better visibility of approaching vehicles and take necessary precautions when walking at night by wearing bright or reflective clothing. These measures play a crucial role in safeguarding pedestrians and minimizing road crashes.

So far in 2023, Troop F has handled 38 fatal crashes resulting in 46 deaths.
