Louisiana Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on LA 931

Louisiana – The Louisiana State Police reported on September 7, 2022, that on September 6, 2022, soon after 10:00 p.m., Troopers from LSP Troop A began investigating a two-vehicle crash on LA 931 at LA 44 in Ascension Parish. Ashton Anderson, 20, of Prairieville, Louisiana, died as a result of the crash.

According to the preliminary inquiry, a juvenile driver in a 2015 Toyota Corolla was turning left from a private parking lot on LA 44. Anderson was driving a 2019 Kawasaki Motorcycle north on LA 44 at the same moment. Anderson was riding the motorcycle with a young passenger. The driver of the Toyota turned into the path of the motorcycle for unknown reasons. The front of the Kawasaki collided with the front fender of the Toyota, ejecting both occupants of the motorcycle.

Anderson died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash, despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet. Furthermore, the juvenile passenger on the motorcycle, who was also wearing a DOT-approved helmet, was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.

A toxicological sample was acquired from both drivers as part of the continuing investigation and will be analyzed. Charges will be filed after the inquiry is completed.

Troopers want to urge drivers to always make wise decisions when driving. Never drive while inebriated, fatigued, or distracted, and always obey all traffic rules. While not all car accidents are avoidable, simple precautions like these can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
