Pearl River, Louisiana – A fatal crash occurred on September 26 in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, claiming the life of a 63-year-old motorcyclist. According to the Louisiana State Police, the incident happened shortly before 4:00 p.m. on LA Hwy 41 near Dolph Gaines Road.
Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L began investigating the two-vehicle crash, which involved a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Richard Nash of Bush, Louisiana. Preliminary findings indicate that the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 41 when the driver made a left turn directly into the path of the northbound Harley-Davidson. The motorcycle then collided with the passenger side of the Chevrolet.
Despite wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved helmet, Nash sustained serious injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, and his life was lost. The driver of the Chevrolet, who was properly restrained, escaped the incident uninjured.
According to the police, impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash. However, as part of the ongoing investigation, routine toxicology samples were obtained for analysis.
Troopers urge drivers to be mindful of their actions and to prioritize road safety. By doing so, they can help prevent such tragic incidents from occurring in the future.
