Louisiana Motorcyclist Dies in Single-Vehicle Crash After Failing to Navigate a Curve and Being Thrown from the Bike

St. Martin Parish – A 35-year-old Louisiana man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on LA 3039 after reportedly failing to navigate a curve.

Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers from LSP Troop I began investigating a single-vehicle fatal incident involving a motorcyclist on Louisiana Highway 3039 at Grand Bois Road in St. Martin Parish around 4:45 a.m. on January 1, 2023. Aaron S. Miller, 35, of Arnaudville, Louisiana, was killed in the accident.

The incident occurred as Miller was driving a 2020 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on LA Hwy 3039, according to the first investigation by State Police. Miller reportedly failed to navigate a curve for unclear reasons and ran off the road to the right. Miller was thrown from the motorcycle as a result of this.

Despite the fact that a DOT-approved helmet was discovered at the scene, investigators were unable to ascertain whether Miller was wearing it at the time of the incident. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering severe injuries. The extent of impairment is unknown, however, a toxicology sample was sent for testing.

Motorcyclists of all ages and experience levels are urged to take extra measures while riding and to be properly prepared and trained for a variety of riding circumstances, according to troopers. Riders are trained on safe riding habits such as being visible, dressed for safety, using effective riding methods, and understanding the capabilities and limitations of their motorcycle through participation in recognized training programs. Motorcycle riders are taught how to use these safety techniques not only to prevent being involved in a crash but also to dramatically lessen the likelihood of injuries if a crash does occur.
