Jefferson, Louisiana - A two-vehicle crash on US 90 in Jefferson Parish has resulted in the death of a New Orleans motorcyclist, according to Louisiana State Police Troop B.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the intersection of US 90 (Jefferson Highway) and Monticello Avenue. The preliminary investigation found that 64-year-old Mason Stevenson of New Orleans, Louisiana, was traveling east on US 90 on a 2019 Indian Motorcycle. As Stevenson neared Monticello Avenue, a 2016 Toyota Highlander began a left turn from the westbound lanes onto Monticello Avenue, crossing directly into the motorcyclist’s path. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the Toyota.
Despite wearing a DOT-approved helmet, Stevenson suffered life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital and remained in critical condition until his death was reported on Monday, June 16.
The driver of the Highlander was properly restrained and did not sustain injuries. Louisiana State Police reported that impairment is not suspected in the incident, but voluntary blood samples from both drivers have been taken for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.
As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash, they remind all drivers to exercise caution, especially at intersections and when making turns across lanes of traffic.
