Louisiana Man Taken Into Custody After Telling Deputies Mountain Lions Were After Him

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man was taken into custody by Jeff Davis Parish deputies after telling them that mountain lions were after him.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on March 16, 2023, that on March 15, about 8:20 p.m., Deputies were summoned to the area of Highway 90 and Vaussine Road, Lacassine, Louisiana, in regard to someone standing in the roadway.

Authorities reported that they discovered a Caucasian male standing in the road, waving a flashlight. Taylor Adam Mallett, 24, of Welsh, Louisiana reportedly told deputies that he was afraid because he thought mountain lions were after him.

A computer search was performed and alerted deputies that Mallett had an outstanding warrant.

Authorities indicated that Mallett was then taken into custody for his safety and booked into the parish jail on a charge of simple criminal damage to property and to clear the warrant.

Medical personnel at the parish jail would also examine Mallett.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
