Louisiana Man Suspected of Vehicle Burglary Caught by Police Wearing Glove Matching One Found in Victim’s Car
LaPlace, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested for simple burglary suspected of a vehicle break-in at a business after being caught by police wearing a glove matching one found in the victim’s car.
The St John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on January 18, 2023, that a New Orleans, Louisiana man was arrested on January 17, 2023, in connection with a vehicle burglary at a LaPlace, Louisiana business. Lucito Fuentes, 19, of New Orleans, Louisiana was charged with simple burglary.
Officers responded to a vehicle burglary in the 4300 block of US 51 in LaPlace, Louisiana on January 16, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m. Officers made contact with the victim, who reported that his vehicle’s front driver’s side window was shattered and that his wallet, a roll of electrical tape, and his iPhone 11 were missing.
The victim stated that the person he suspected of breaking into his vehicle was still on the business’s property. Officers learned that the victim discovered a black glove that did not belong to him on the passenger seat of his vehicle. Fuentes was also seen standing near the business, wearing a black glove on one of his hands. Officers approached Fuentes and noticed that the gloves matched.
Officers canvassed the area of the burglary and discovered the victim’s wallet and iPhone on the ground.
Fuentes was arrested and charged with simple burglary – motor vehicle. In lieu of a $15,000 bond, he is being held in custody.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
