Louisiana Man Suspected of Inappropriate Sexual Contact with a Minor Under Ten Returned to Calcasieu Parish After Arrest in Michigan
Lake Charles, Louisiana – A Louisiana man suspected of inappropriate sexual contact with a minor under the age of ten has been returned to Calcasieu Parish after he was arrested in Michigan.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on March 27, 2023, that in May of 2022, they received a complaint about Jamaal B. Dugas, 38, of Lafayette, Louisiana having inappropriate sexual contact with a minor under the age of ten. According to authorities, the victim informed investigators that the incidents occurred between November 2019 and April 2021 in Calcasieu Parish.
Detectives performed an investigation, and the case was turned over to the District Attorney’s Office. A Calcasieu Parish Grand Jury indicted Dugas in August 2022, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Dugas was apprehended in Michigan in October of 2022. On March 24, 2023, he was returned to Calcasieu Parish and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where he was charged with first-degree rape. His bond was set at $1.5 million by Judge Tony Fazzio.
Detective Alexander Vincent of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the case’s principal investigator.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
