Louisiana Man Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in Motorcycle Crash After Running Off the Roadway on US 167

Louisiana – Louisiana State Police reported on September 8, 2022, that on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, just after 7:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop F responded to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 167 north of LA Highway 545. This crash took the life of 61-year-old Roger E. Ferrar of Bernice, Louisiana, who was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time.

The early inquiry found that Ferrar was riding a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on U.S. Hwy 167. The motorcycle left the road for reasons that are still being investigated. Ferrar was ejected as a result. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the incident. Troop F was informed on September 8 that Ferrar had died as a result of his injuries.

Although impairment was not a factor, a toxicological sample was taken and submitted for processing. This crash is still being investigated.

Louisiana State Troopers want to remind motorists that distracted and inattentive driving is dangerous and a primary cause of crashes in our state. To stay alert, motorists must pay attention to what is going on outside of the car they are driving and get plenty of rest.

Troop F has investigated 19 fatal crashes so far in 2022, resulting in 23 fatalities.
