Louisiana Man Succumbs to Injuries Sustained in April 10 Crash in Moss Bluff

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash that occurred on April 10 in Moss Bluff.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) stated on April 13, 2023, that on April 10, shortly before 9:30 a.m., Troopers from Troop D responded to an injury crash involving two vehicles on LA Highway 378 about a quarter mile east of North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff, Louisiana. Daniel Wayne Myers, 64, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, died as a result of the crash.

The initial investigation found that Myers was driving a 2021 GMC Terrain and the driver of a 2020 Ram pickup truck were both headed west on LA 378. Myers reportedly lost control of the GMC for unexplained reasons and collided with the back left side of the pickup truck as the driver was making a right turn into a business. Following the initial collision with the pickup truck, the GMC crossed both eastbound lanes of traffic and crashed into a ditch.

According to authorities, Myers was not properly restrained and suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash. The Ram’s driver was securely restrained and suffered minor injuries. Both drivers were sent to a hospital in Lake Charles for treatment.

Toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for testing. This crash is still being investigated.

Troop D indicated that they were advised on April 13, 2023, that Myers had died as a result of his injuries in the crash.

So far in 2023, Troop D has investigated 10 fatal crashes that resulted in 11 deaths.
