Louisiana Man Spotted Chasing a Tractor on Foot in a Field Arrested on Drug and Trespassing Charges

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man who was spotted chasing a tractor on foot in a field has been arrested on drug and trespassing charges.

In the Elton Drive area of Jeff Davis Parish, near Tupper Road and Bucklin, a report of a suspicious person was made on August 21, 2023. The person was observed chasing a tractor on foot in a nearby field.

Deputies were dispatched to investigate and a reserve deputy assisted in detaining the individual.

The property owner informed the deputies that the suspect, identified as Emery Jules Richard, age 35 from St. Martinville, Louisiana, was not authorized to be on the property and was posing a danger to himself by chasing the tractor.

After being apprehended, Richard was reportedly found to be in possession of Fentanyl, a controlled substance categorized as CDS II. As a result, Richard was arrested and charged with criminal trespass and possession of CDS II before being booked into the parish jail.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
