Alexandria, Louisiana – A 27-year-old Alexandria, Louisiana resident has been sentenced to federal prison for illegally possessing machine guns and conversion devices, federal prosecutors announced today.

Kaelin Williams received a 30-month prison sentence from United States District Judge Dee D. Drell, followed by two years of supervised release. The sentencing follows Williams’ guilty plea on August 21, 2024, to one count of illegal possession of a machine gun.

Federal agents executed a search warrant at Williams’ residence on March 1, 2024, where they discovered two Anderson Model AM-15 AR-Type multi-caliber pistols equipped with machine gun conversion devices. Williams was alone in the residence at the time of the search.

During the investigation, agents also found multiple “Glock switches” – devices designed to convert standard firearms into fully automatic weapons. Williams admitted to investigators that he was aware of the illegal nature of these conversion devices and their capability to transform regular firearms into machine guns.

The case was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Homeland Security Investigations, and the Alexandria Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Lauren L. Gardner led the prosecution.

This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a nationwide initiative that brings together law enforcement agencies and community organizations to reduce violent crime and enhance neighborhood safety.
