Louisiana Man Sentenced to More Than 15 Years After Pleading Guilty to Distribution of Methamphetamine and Heroin

New, Orleans, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to the distribution of methamphetamine and heroin.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced on April 14, 2023, that Carl Blake Riley, Jr., age 47, a resident of Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana was sentenced on April 13, 2023, to 190 months (15 years, 10 months) imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee by U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon, after he pled guilty to a two-count indictment charging him with possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession with the intent to distribute heroin, in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(A), and 841(b)(1)(C).

According to court filings, authorities discovered around 880 grams of methamphetamine and approximately 25 grams of heroin during a search of Riley’s residence. Riley acquired the drugs from California and distributed them around Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

The US Drug Enforcement Administration and the Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office investigated this case. Assistant United States Attorney J. Benjamin Myers of the Narcotics Unit handled the prosecution.
