Louisiana Man Sentenced to More Than 12 Years for Distribution of Methamphetamine After He was Caught During Operation “Pick Your Battles”

Louisiana – On October 5, 2022, United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced the sentencing of a Many, Louisiana man in federal court in Louisiana. United States District Judge Donald E. Walter sentenced Damien Medlock, 36, of Many, Louisiana to 151 months (12 years, 7 months) in prison, followed by 5 years of supervised release, for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Medlock was indicted in June 2021 and pleaded guilty to the charge on May 16, 2022.

The charge stems from an Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation called “Pick Your Battles” by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Sabine Parish Narcotics Task Force agents in the Sabine Parish area. On May 31, 2021, agents discovered via their investigation that Medlock had sold methamphetamine to an individual. Following the sale of the methamphetamine, Medlock was apprehended by law police.

Agents secured a search warrant for his home in Many and executed it later that day. During their search of the home, authorities uncovered roughly 1,286 grams of narcotics in various containers in the kitchen, as well as three digital scales, baggies, and a drug ledger in the living room. The narcotics were brought to the North Louisiana Criminalistics Laboratory and examined and proved to contain methamphetamine with a total weight of 1,287.8 grams.

The FBI and the Sabine Parish Narcotics Task Force investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney J. Aaron Crawford. This attempt is part of an ongoing Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation. Using a prosecutor-led, intelligence-driven, multi-agency approach, OCDETF identifies, disrupts, and dismantles the highest level criminal organizations that pose a threat to the United States.
