Louisiana Man Sentenced to Life Plus 50 Years in Prison for the Murder of His Wife and Attempted Murder of Her Daughter

Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been sentenced to life plus 50 years in prison for the murder of his wife and attempted murder of her daughter.

Sharon L. Lewis, 40, of Iowa, Louisiana, was sentenced to life in prison on one count of First Degree Murder, fifty years on one count of Attempted First Degree Murder, and fifteen years on one count of Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon on March 22, 2023, by Louisiana 14th Judicial District Court Judge Michael Canaday.

Lewis shot his wife and her daughter in 2022. Lewis’s wife died at the scene from her injuries, but her daughter survived and was hospitalized for three months.

The penalties for First Degree Murder and Attempted First Degree Murder are to run concurrently with the other sentences, resulting in a total sentence of life plus 50 years.

All sentences must be served at hard labor, with no possibility of probation, parole, or sentence suspension.

The case was prosecuted by Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office First Assistant District Attorney Jacob Johnson and Assistant District Attorney Kadence Huber.
