Louisiana Man Sentenced to Life in Prison in Connection with the Death of Two After He Set a Home on Fire

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A Louisiana man was sentenced to life in prison in connection with the death of two victims after he set a home on fire.

On July 21, 2023, Casey M. Hatch, a 40-year-old resident of Lake Charles, received a sentence of life imprisonment on two counts of 2nd Degree Murder by Judge Robert Wyatt.

This decision was reached as a result of Hatch’s actions in 2020 when he set fire to his mobile home while three individuals were inside. Unfortunately, only one person survived the incident. The sentence mandates that Hatch serve his time at hard labor without the possibility of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Furthermore, the two life sentences will be consecutively served.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Charles Robinson, Conrad Huber, and Jordan Sutterfield on behalf of the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
