Louisiana Man Sentenced to Life After Being Found to Be Habitual Offender Convicted of Multiple Separate Robberies and Other Crimes
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office announced on August 19, 2022, that Judge David Ritchie found Kendrick N. Shepherd, 35, of Sulphur, Louisiana, to be a fourth or subsequent habitual offender. Because of Shepherd’s violent criminal background, Judge David Ritchie sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of probation, parole, or suspension of sentence. Shepherd was found guilty of Armed Robbery earlier in 2022.
Shepherd violently robbed two gas stations just five days apart in 2018. Shepherd was armed with a glass beer bottle, which he used as a weapon and attacked the cashier with while stealing items and money during the first armed robbery. Shepherd got into a physical conflict with the cashier during the second robbery and robbed them of products and money.
Prior to that, Shepherd was also convicted of Obstruction of Justice, Possession of CDS Schedule II, two courts of Aggravated Flight from an Officer, and First Degree Robbery.
Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office Assistant District Attorneys Joey Williams and Christopher Guelzow prosecuted the case.
