Louisiana Man Sentenced to 9 Years For possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl

Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been sentenced to 9 years in prison for possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

Terrance Stewart, a 32-year-old resident of Lafourche Parish, has been sentenced to 108 months in federal prison, along with four years of supervised release and payment of a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, following Stewart’s conviction for possession with intent to distribute more than 40 grams of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl.

As per court documents, law enforcement officials seized a significant amount of illicit substances and cash from Stewart’s residence on August 17, 2022. The seizure included 226.7 grams of fentanyl pills, 203 grams of methamphetamine pills, 72.9 grams of white powdery fentanyl, and around $181,623.00 in U.S. currency. Additionally, Stewart was found to have sold fentanyl pills to a confidential source on April 21, 2022, and June 2, 2022, Stewart also sold methamphetamine to a confidential source on June 22, 2022, and July 6, 2022.

The investigation of this particular case was carried out jointly by the Drug Enforcement Administration, New Orleans Division and the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force. The case is currently being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rachal Cassagne, who heads the Narcotics Unit.
