Louisiana – United States Attorney Brandon B. Brown announced that Casey Michael Taylor, 35, of Arcadia, Louisiana, has been sentenced by United States District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote for illegal possession of firearms.
Taylor received a 68-month jail sentence, followed by three years of supervised release. According to court documents, deputies with the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Taylor’s pickup truck on February 2, 2021, in response to a be-on-the-lookout or “BOLO” notice. Taylor was apprehended by deputies, who discovered numerous loaded pistols, ammo, methamphetamine, and smoking paraphernalia inside his truck. A search warrant was then executed, and investigators searched and recovered many guns from Taylor’s gun safe. Taylor later stated that he was addicted to and used methamphetamine on a daily basis, making him prohibited from owning guns.
This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office, and it was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mike Shannon.
