Louisiana Man Sentenced For Fatal Car Crash He Caused While Under the Influence of Drugs and Alcohol

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been sentenced for a fatal car crash he caused while under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

On July 21, 2023, Blaine K. LeCompte of Lake Charles was sentenced by Judge Robert Wyatt to 30 years in prison for his involvement in a fatal car crash in 2021. LeCompte was found guilty of one count of Vehicular Homicide and two counts of First Degree Vehicular Negligent Injuring. He will not be eligible for probation, parole, or suspension of sentence and must serve his time at hard labor.

The crash occurred when LeCompte was driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol and rear-ended an 18-wheeler. Tragically, one of the passengers in the vehicle, a toddler, lost their life at the scene. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Conrad Huber on behalf of the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
