Louisiana Man Pleads Guilty in Federal Court to Migratory Game Bird Violations
On December 2, 2022, The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) announced that a New Iberia, Louisiana man has pled guilty and was sentenced in Federal Court on November 29 for migratory game bird hunting violations.
Brayden Krepper, 22, was fined $2,200, ordered to serve 50 hours of community service, and had his hunting privileges taken away for two years.
A Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Enforcement Division inquiry led to the guilty plea. On November 20, 2021, LDWF inspectors cited Krepper for exceeding the mourning dove limit and failing to have the requisite Harvest Information Program (HIP) accreditation.
On November 20, 2021, agents noticed Krepper hunting doves in a field in St. Mary Parish. Agents made contact with Krepper and discovered him to be in possession of 37 mourning doves, which was 22 doves more than the daily limit. He also lacked his HIP certification.
Capt. Joey Thompson and Lt. Scott Dupre are the agents involved in the case.
