A Louisiana man was killed in a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash on LA 112 in Rapides Parish.

On August 30, 2023, around 8:30 in the morning, Louisiana State Police from Troop E was called to the scene of a collision involving two vehicles at the junction of Louisiana Highway 112 and Earl Linzay Road. Tragically, the crash resulted in the death of Robert Hebert, 68, from Natchitoches, Louisiana.

Preliminary inquiries show that Quintrakus A. Roy, 36, from Plaucheville, Louisiana was driving a 2010 Nissan westward on Louisiana Highway 112. The investigation is still ongoing, but it appears that Andrea tried to make a left turn onto Earl Linzay Road without yielding to a 1998 Honda motorcycle traveling eastbound. Consequently, Roy’s Nissan hit the motorcycle, leading to the motorcyclist, Hebert, getting thrown off the bike.

Hebert, despite having worn a helmet, suffered severe injuries leading to his death, which was confirmed right at the site. Andrea, who had been restrained, sustained only minor injuries. Samples were taken for a toxicology test and are currently under analysis.

The reason behind this crash is still under scrutiny; however, LSP indicated that the leading factor behind most crashes in our state continues to be distracted and careless driving. Louisiana State Police strongly encourage all drivers to remain vigilant on the road. An instance of one’s attention faltering can lead to fatal outcomes.

So far in 2023, LSP Troop E has conducted investigations into 37 lethal accidents, which have led to the loss of 42 lives.
