Livingston Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man was killed in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on LA 22 in Livingston Parish.

Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop A commenced an investigation into a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on LA 22 close to Aston Road in Livingston Parish, on July 26, 2023, just after 8:30 in the evening. The crash sadly resulted in the death of 47-year-old Anthony McChesney from Gonzales, Louisiana.

The initial inquiry has indicated that McChesney was driving a 2003 Big Dog motorcycle along LA 22 heading west when he failed to successfully handle a left turn. The reasons for this are still being examined. Consequently, he left the road to the right, hitting an embankment, and was thrown from his bike. Despite a DOT-approved helmet having been found at the crash site, it remains unclear if McChesney was wearing it at the time of the incident.

Tragically, McChesney sustained injuries that led to his death on the scene. As part of the ongoing investigation, a sample was taken for a toxicology test from McChesney. The crash is still being investigated.

LSP indicated that regardless of whether one is driving a motorcycle or a vehicle, proper decision-making while on the road is critical. This includes respecting all road signs and signals, adhering to the speed limit, wearing a seatbelt when in a vehicle, and avoiding driving when tired, distracted, or under the influence of substances. These behaviors often make the difference between survival and fatality.
