Louisiana Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash While Trying to Pass Another Vehicle on LA 19

Louisiana – On November 8, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers with LSP Troop A began investigating a single-vehicle crash on LA 19 south of LA 10 in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, soon before 4:00 a.m. Brandon Martin, 36, of Holden, Louisiana, died as a result of the crash.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Martin was driving a 2015 Audi sedan south on LA 19. Martin reportedly attempted to pass a vehicle, ran off the road to the left, and collided with a driveway embankment for unknown reasons. The vehicle became airborne after contact and collided with a utility pole before rolling.
Martin was restrained appropriately at the time of the accident, but he sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. While no impairment is suspected, regular toxicological samples were collected and findings are awaited.

Troopers encourage motorists to always make safe decisions while driving. Never drive while intoxicated, tired, or preoccupied. Always obey driving laws and make certain that all occupants are securely restrained. Not all accidents are avoidable, but simple precautions like the ones listed above can frequently mean the difference between life and death.
