Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on US 51 in Tangipahoa Parish.
On August 9, 2023, just prior to 7:15 p.m., officers from Troop L of the Louisiana State Police initiated an investigation into a fatal one-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 close to U.S. Highway 51 in Tangipahoa Parish. The accident resulted in the death of 74-year-old Robert Kimble from Hammond, Louisiana.
The preliminary probe indicated that the crash happened while Kimble was heading north on Interstate 55 in a 2001 Lexus RX3. The cause of Kimble losing control over the Lexus and striking a guardrail is still being investigated.
Kimble, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he eventually succumbed to his injuries. In the context of the continuing investigation, a toxicology sample was collected from Kimble for further examination.
Even though it’s impossible to survive every crash, data illustrates that wearing your seat belt correctly can significantly lower your risk of injury or death in a crash. It is mandated by Louisiana law that all vehicle occupants, no matter where they are seated, should always be wearing their seat belts. Correctly using your seat belt is among the most successful methods to protect your life and minimize harm in crashes.
